I have been privileged to have grown up in a Christian home. My parents have worked for the Salvation Army as pastors and have taught me about Jesus from the very beginning of my life. For this reason, I really don’t have any recollection of life without Christ.
When I was four years old, my father had just finished sharing the truth with a group of children. He shared that we are separated from God because of sin but that Jesus, God’s son, had come to live and die so that we can be united again to God. He invited the children to come and pray and accept Jesus into their lives. I wanted to ask Jesus to live in my heart and I did just that!
My parents and other mentors throughout my life continued to guide me in my walk with the Lord. I continued to grow in Jesus. By the time I went to college, I had lived in 6 different places. I had seen the Lord work all throughout my life. And then I fell in love. I put this man above the Lord in my life and I compromised my commitment to Christ.
The Lord blessed us with a beautiful baby boy and we were married. I learned very quickly a life very different from the life I knew growing up. I walked with the Lord, but soon realized that my husband did not walk with the Lord. After many years of trying to make my marriage work, my husband asked for a divorce. I can praise the Lord today because, even though my husband had left me, the Lord has never left me. The Lord has carried me through every difficulty in my life. He has been faithful even when I wavered. My journey has been blessed by the Lord and I am blessed to have started my life with him at a very young age.
