I grew up in a Christian household, my parents were officer’s until I was 16, and even after they left the army my Dad continued as a minister in the Methodist church. I had no choice about going to church or participating in programs.
I first accepted Christ into my heart when I was 7 years old. I was at Long Point Camp. Even though I accepted Christ and learned more about Him I went through the normal pressures a kid goes through. As a teenager I participated in church to hang out with my friends but didn’t really pursue my relationship with God. During my first year of college I finally wasn’t being woken up to go to church and so I didn’t.
After my first year of college I started going back to church a little and then for sure after I got married. We wanted God in our relationship and back in our lives. We went through hardships, I was going to school over full time and had to work almost full time so that we could afford to pay rent and bills since my husband Dom wasn’t allowed to work when he first moved here. When I was pregnant I fell on the ice on my stomach and got in a car accident, but God had angels around us and He protected us. I know that being a Christian doesn’t mean that my life will be perfect but I do know that God will be with me no matter where I go.
My favorite Bible verse is in Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed in strength and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come.” I know that because I have God in my life I can look to tomorrow with a smile on my face.
