I grew up in a Christian family surrounded by love. I had great examples about how I should be. I knew everything about the Bible and religion, however, my life was empty, influenced by bad friendships and poor choices. I was a type of person at church and a completely different one when my friends were around. I wore different masks because I wanted to be loved and accepted.
Even though I was struggling a lot, my behavior at home became worse day after day. One day my mom received a phone call from someone at church telling her there was a spot opened for a Youth Council for the next week. My mom decided to sign me in. So, I attended that Youth Council. I was there against my will but God was planning a different story for me. On that Saturday evening, something new happened in my life. The message that night changed me. It seemed that person really knew my struggles and my life. I walked to the mercy seat even before the call. For the first time in my life, I felt that God really loved me and cared for me as an individual.
As soon as I came back after the weekend, my parents could see I was a different person. I started to spend more time at home and with my family. I felt that God was really there for me and helped me to go through everything that was ahead of me. He had a plan for my life even though I did not have one. I still don’t know what the future holds, but I can trust in God and in His promises. As the Bible says in Proverbs 23:18 “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”
