The Joy of Christ
Throughout my life I never thought I had a “real” testimony. Growing up in a Christian home with Salvation Army officers as my parents I’ve always known about God. As a kid I enjoyed doing everything all the other kids my age did. These activities involved running around the neighborhood playing ding dong ditch, man hunt and all sorts of sports. I would say growing up I always knew about God but I never truly knew Him. Everyone battles temptations and I was no different. I never understood what being a Christian really meant. It wasn’t until my late teens when I started understanding how riveting the gospel of Jesus really was.
After my high school years and working at summer camps my eyes really opened up to the idea of letting Christ do what he wants with my life. I started getting more involved in the church and not because I was being made to this time. Before I truly gave my life over to Jesus Christ completely, I was just going about things how I wanted. This time I wanted to get involved with church. My desires turned into Christ lead ones rather than worldly ones. I’ve always been a happy guy and laughter is one of my favorite things. That joy I realize now comes from my Lord and savior. Eventually, God blessed me with a beautiful wife and I now have a beautiful daughter as well.
I feel the Holy Spirit really working through my life and showing that to others is what I want to do. My testimony is that Christ has filled my life with joy and he has molded me through my life to be the man I am today. One of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28 which states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
