My Most Valuable Thing
When I was a child, I wanted to be a comedian because I wanted to make people happy and I thought it is the most valuable thing. However, my dream was changed when I was a 5th grade elementary school student. I came across the picture of Pieta, one of Michelangelo’s masterpieces which captivated me at the book store. It is a sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus. I could not forget this moment because my heart was pierced with unutterable sadness even though I did not know who Jesus is. It was strongly inspiring to me that Michelangelo devoted his whole life to the creation of magnificent works of art for God with the fear of the Lord. This experience lead me to be a designer later, and I wanted to be a success by the power of God. So I came to the USA to become a successful fashion designer from South Korea. But, I was faced with many unexpected difficulties. Now I know that God led me and allowed all those difficulties, because during that time is when I finally met Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I did not know I was a sinner before. But I could repent all my sins and truly thank Jesus who saved me.
Before I met Jesus Christ, I was a very ego-centered person. I was so afraid of the world all the time because I wanted to be more successful and worried about my future. There was no peace and freedom in my life. It was like living in an invisible jail. However, after I met Jesus Christ, I became a Christ-centered person and began living in peace. I no longer worry about my future. Moreover, I am so excited to live my new life with Jesus Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
