Saved, Saved, Saved, and Saved Again!
I grew up in the projects of Erie Pennsylvania, where surviving was the only goal. I survived drive by shootings, gang fights, and parents who used drugs. I was a kid however who was brought to The Salvation Army every week. It was here I learned of God, but never truly gave my life to him. In 2004 I met my wife and was working for the church thinking I had it all figured out, but soon that changed. I ended up rupturing a disc in my back, and I could not work, and ballooned to over 500 lbs, and considered suicide. But little did I know God was still in control.
While living in misery, I left the church, and would sleep all day because I could not face myself. But while in the midst of all this I had people praying for me and looking out for me. My Corps officers (pastors), and most importantly my wife kept reminding me God had more for me. He wanted me to live the life he had planned. And in 2009 He showed me that when we became pregnant with our first child. God used that to show me he was not done with me. He never left me, I left him. And I needed to become the man he wanted me to be to fulfill his plan for me.
So here I am 4 years later, over 250 lbs lighter. I have no back pain, and was able to work for over a year and a half before coming to CFOT. I have a beautiful family of 4 (wife, daughter, and son). Now I am becoming a pastor in The Salvation Army. God showed me he is faithful to those who are faithful. He reminded me of my life verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
